I thought I'd share this information that my own surgeon's Dietician Krystal Cameron shared with our group. This is especially important info for me, as I was told at my 6-month post-op consult that I was a bit deficient in Vitamin D. Anyway - hope this helps someone ;)

Dairy sources are your best sources to get Vitamin D in your diet. While I do advise to get good sources of D in your diet, dietary sources alone are not enough to meet your needs since you have had weight loss surgery.

According to the new guidelines set forth by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, you need between 1600-2000 IU of vitamin D per day. In order to do this, you would need to 128 oz (roughly 16 8-oz glasses) per day to meet these needs.

So, long story short - keep taking the vitamins :)

There are supplements that can address your needs but you have to choose the right ones like pure resveratrol (http://www.pureandhealthy.com/) or vegetarian supplements depending on your goal whether to lose weight or maintain a healthy figure.
