Thumbs Up Re: Kinda curious --> Do you smoke?

This is so true. If you do not truly want it, then it's one difficult battle. Take one day at a time. Isn't is said somewhere that it takes 21 days/tries to form a new habit. I guess if you can make it through the first month, it gets easier. Just remember that, in that one moment of weekeness (casually having a smoke with your friends at a bar) 2 years down the line is going to skrew everything you worked so hard to achieve.

When I quit, I did not have patches, or drugs as an option (god, does the gum still tast bad - I heard that and did not want to touch it). If you feel you need help, either by the medications available today, or even just chatting to someone who's managed to beat the odds, then take/ask for the support.

Default Re: Kinda curious --> Do you smoke?

I quit in 2000. It turns out it was a good idea, as my surgeon absolutely requires it, even to the point of giving a blood test prior to surgery. Apparently your carbon monoxide levels rat you out, and you get canceled. I'm glad I don't have one more thing to worry about during my countdown.

My surgeon required it too - It's one of the first things he said to me - that he would not operate on me if I was a smoker - so I gave it up.

Jacquii.
