Default Wow! You are All Amazing!

I applaud all of my fellow WLSers within this post. You have all gotten so far. As I mentioned before, my journey will not be as far compared to yours, but I so overwhelmed by your courage and wonderful outlook. Don't ever forget your goals.

Just this week I was able to wear my smallest size jeans in the closet -- size 16. How wonderful I felt. You would have thought I was some supermodel. I'm continuing to feel spectacular in every way possible.

I hosted Thanksgiving Dinner this year with a houseful of people. Once all of our plates were full, I just took a deep breath and looked around at everyone enjoying their food and each other. I ate my dinner slowly and with real purpose, but mostly just enjoyed the chatter and excitement in my home so much more.

This time of year is very tough with temptations of food everywhere. But, remember, it's the people close to you that matter the most. Their smiles, giggles, and doggie licks can make you feel more fulfilled than any gingerbread cookie.

Good luck to all...Keep up the GREAT work! And, continue to share your stories and thoughts.
XOXO to all!

Great post Judy and glad to hear that you enjoyed your Thanksgiving dinner! You are absolutely right: it's the people close to you that matter the most. That is so true and I experienced a similar feeling at my own Thanksgiving dinner. It's kinda interesting that I really never verbalized internally that emotion before - but realized it this year for the first time in years. Because everything didn't just center around food as it had in the past for me.

At anyrate - nice post and congrats on wearing that size 16! I am down to a 24/26 for the first time in years - I was previously a 34/36 at my highest weight of 438 - so wow - I can't hardly wait to be able to wear a size 16 LOL

Jacquii.

I made my choice to get BPD D/S with Dr. Boyce because I want to experience the normal joys of life. Riding roller-coasters with my kids and grandkids, hiking, hunting, sitting comfortably in a restaurant booth, and so much more. I was initially denied the DS and thanks to Dr. Boyce and staff that denial was overturned. I will be going to the office this week and schedule my surgery. I chose an avatar that shows a man on top of a rock ledge, that symbolizes my journey to a healthy active lifestyle. Exploring new horizons, challenges, and successes.

Heya Alan and welcome to the Community - feel free to post an intro thread in the Howdy Hi Introductions section as well if you like

I had my surgery with Dr. Boyce back on April 28th this year! He's an awesome surgeon - One of the bests IMO and the staff at New Life is simply sweetness!

I think I read your post on the Yahoo group - I'm so happy they were able to get you insurance approval! Good luck on scheduling your date.

You'll be so happy with the results I'm sure. That avatar will become personified, as I know firsthand that WLS for my own personal experience has been one hell of an awesome journey! At last weigh-in I was down 127 pounds from my highest weight of 438. Just work the program and you will have wonderful results.

Jacquii.

My reason would be to provide a place for people who have just had surgery. A place to share our unique experiences and perspectives.

Thumbs Up My Little girl.

Hello All
My wife and I both did our WLS together, same day, hour apart July 7, 2009. She has lost just over 105 pounds and I have lost 84. I am within 15 of my ideal weight and have been staying around the 200 pound mark for a long...long time. My wife and i both had both done this operation for two reasons. 1. to grow old with each other, the other to be able to see grand children... I am 34 with a 6 year old...so I have lots of years to go, with my weight, I had to many problems, severe sleep apnea, high blood pressure, arthritis..the list goes on, but now..We both have a future that will include walking my little girl down the aisle as well seeing and spoiling our grandchildren..
hope this make sense...

Very nice post Jody! And congrats to you both - you've both done so well! I think yawl should start signing your posts though - so that we know who's posting LOL -- Might want to consider making another account - so that you can each have your own WLSJourney.org account - just want to quell the confusion. I'm easily confused.. and easily distracted hahaha

1. Because my teenage son had a physical altercation with a friend who spoke poorly of me.

2. Because my husband, who still sees me through "love goggles" after 11 years, has to endure snickers and jeers from behind when we go out together.

3. Because some days I hurt so much it's a challenge to walk down the hall to the bathroom.

4. Because tax payers will pay more for my diabetes, arthritis, and depression than they would for surgery.

5. Because the dandelions in my front yard are 3 feet tall and there are no more kids in the neighborhood who will pull them out for 5 bucks.
