Hello All my name is Sue and i live in Australia in a very remote town in in Far North Queensland.
I have gastric banding performed in Aug 08 and I am 45kgs down so far. I was 131kgs and now am 86, kgs. I love my band. I have slowed up on the weight loss lately probably need to excerise more, however I am really happy at this weight. I would like loose another 10kgs.
It is the best thing I have ever done in my 52years.

Gastric Banding Surgery The adjustable gastric banding is a restrictive surgical procedure during which a silicone band is placed around the stomach, creating a small pouch. The band includes a balloon that is filled with a nontoxic fluid, most commonly a saline solution; periodic adjustments are performed by a healthcare professional who accesses the balloon via a subcutaneous port. Gastric band placement, unlike malabsorptive weight loss surgery (e.g. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, Biliopancreatic Diversion, and Duodenal Switch), does not cut or remove any part of the digestive system. Anyway = Welcome to the Community from Australia! Congrats on the weightloss - I'm not sure what the conversion rate to pounds is - but I can tell that it's substantial!

Hello I can convert the kgs to lbs for you I was 131kg or 288.2lbs, now 86 kgs or 189.2 lbs, lost in 1 year 45 kgs or 99 lbs.
We use kgs in Australia. Sorry

Oh - no problem at all - I like to think that we are becoming somewhat of an international forum - so it's nice to see such diversity and thanks for clarifying the conversion for me. That is AWESOME Girl. You have done a fabulous job with the band = Congratulations and again = Welcome to the forum
