Hello from KY!!

Hi everyone! I'm Jennifer from Louisville, KY!

I had RNY on June 30, 2009. After a week of not doing so well, I ended up back in the hospital with a bowel obstruction and a pouch perforation! Yikes! On July 7th, I had a 2nd surgery (that really kicked my butt!) to have all that fixed. I had a rough recovery, but I still don't regret having the surgery.

I am having some issues eating properly...see me post under Nutrition, if you are interested in listening to my complaints! lol

I have lost about 66 lbs to date! :o)

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass A type of gastric bypass procedure which combines restrictive and malabsorption techniques - meaning, it reduces the amount of food a patient can comfortably eat (restriction), and also reduces the amount of calories that can be digested in the small intestine (malabsorption). This combination of bariatric methods leads to greater weight loss and the roux-en-y procedure is seen as one of the best ways to treat clinically severe obesity. Pouch Most bariatric surgeries restricts the amount of food a patient can eat by reducing the size of the stomach by gastric banding, stapling or removal. What results is known as the gastric pouch.

Hi Jennifer and welcome to The Journey! Also congrats on the 66 pounds you've lost to date - that's something to be proud of, especially after the rough start you had. And no - It's not a complaint - The Journey Community Forums exists as a place for us to get support so that we can make our surgery a tool a success - so you are quite welcome to post, asking for help. In fact - I posted in your thread earlier today I believe - Hopefully others will be able to offer you suggestions as well.
