4 ways weight loss can enhance your sex life

Let's face it. We can have any number of motivations for losing weight. We can talk about how much better you'll feel, how many years you'll add to your life, or how much better you'll look. All of these benefits combine to create a huge motivation for many: an improved sex life.

Losing weight for both men and women is thought to cause a boost in fertility.
This is a benefit you really don't hear about as much as the others but, for many, it is equally motivating. For some, their sex life may be a source of embarrassment. For others, they may not even know what their missing. In either case, just dropping a few extra pounds can go a long way. Here is how:

Improved libido
Recent studies have shown that up to 30% of obese people that seek help to control their weight report problems with their sex drive, desire, performance, or all of the above. Many of these problems are directly attributable to their weight issues and to self image. This same study shows that even a moderate weight loss of 10 pounds can help. Losing weight not only makes you feel better physically but also boosts your self image which can lead to a more enjoyable and fulfilling sex life.

Reduced chances of ED
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) effects around 30 million men in the United States. In a 2006 study, it was revealed that obese men who performed little exercise were at a 2.5 times greater risk for ED. This is in comparison to men of normal weight that averaged 30 minutes of exercise daily. Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and the risk for heart disease all put a man at a higher risk of ED. All of these are also considered obesity related health issues. So, it only makes sense that lowering your risk of these issues through weight loss will also lower your risk of developing ED.

Fertility Boost
Losing weight for both men and women is thought to cause a boost in fertility. For women, it was found that losing weight decreases testosterone levels and increases warm blood flow to the womb. For men, excess weight is accompanied by higher levels of estrogen and lower levels of testosterone which hinders the production of sperm. With weight loss, these levels are reversed and fertility is thought to be boosted.

Male enhancement!
Well, not really but it certainly seems that way. Dr. Oz , from the Oprah show, says that you can expect another inch for every 35 lbs you lose. That doesn't mean you actually increase in size. What happens is the 'fat pad' (the fat at the base of the abdomen) shrinks which reveals more and more with every pound you lose. For some men, this may be motivation enough to make the difference in their weight loss efforts!
